No worries, Mitch! I saw that comment as well re: min 50g heavily stocked, and I have to say it's working just fine on my (med / med-light stock) 38 or so gallons. I feed heavily, occasional dosing of C & other trace, and this skimmer performs with no problem. Check out the ATB forum on Reefcentral and check the thread there, a few people, myself included, are using it on 29, 40 gal tanks, and it works great. Now, it could certainly handle more, no problem - that was one of my thoughts in first purchasing it, was when I upgrade to 60 - 90 or so gallons, will the ATB Multi-use be able to hang for a while? I definitely think it will. Is it worth the significant investment? I'm not sure what the current price is. I got it for the pre-sale price, and I have zero regrets. I'll note more with pics soon. Feel free to ask any more ? if you have!

i don't mean to rush you, but i'm trying to pull the trigger on a hob skimmer asap =) so i'm looking forward to hearing more!

on glassbox-design, where i originally found you, there's a comment by Jon who sounds like the designer of this product and he says that he's expecting a minimum 50g (heavily stocked!). i would be way under running a 29g, so i'm really worried what performance would be like in my situation.

also, your pic shows a model w/o the red acrylic/plastic. where did you purchase?

and lastly, is it worth the significant investment?

Hey, Mitch. Expect an update & some photos very soon. I'm really pleased with it so far (I've had it going a bout 2 months now?). I have ~38 total gallons of water volume and a lightly stocked tank and it consistently pulls out a nice color skimmate given the light stock level.

There really is something to the cone design, you can watch the bubble almost uniformly run up the sides and the turbulence in the neck is minimal, creating a nice, thick & frothy head. I too bought the Multi-use with the idea of being able to use it on 60 - 90ish gallons, and I have no reason to doubt it will rock those.

Here's a pic from a month or so ago. The color is light, but again, the tank is lightly stocked and this color is appropriate to the stock, I think. More pics and info to come soon. Thanks:

how's this skimmer? i'm considering using it in a 29g, and also thinking of reusability in a future tank.
